I think I need a trophy case....

...for all the "Bad Parenting Awards" I have won in the last 7 years.

The most recent trophy was awarded to me yesterday as I sat on my couch chatting with Kirsten. My phone rang...and it said "Mrs. Oliver". I was so confused. In the split second that I looked at the phone before I answered, I wondered what could be wrong that I am actually getting a call directly from Mrs. Oliver. (If Jessalyn is sick or something I would get a call from the nurse or the office).

Then it clicked and right before I answered the phone I looked at the clock and it was 3:15!!!! I'm supposed to pick her up at 3:00...and I am hardly EVER more than 2 or 3 minutes late! Oh my goodness...I was so embarrassed.

I answered the phone giggling and apologizing at the same time. Mrs. Oliver wasn't annoyed or anything..she was actually just a bit worried since she knows that I am never late. Jessalyn had a great time hanging out a bit later and got to do some extra reading while she waited.

The thing that gets me about the whole situation is that I seriously had NO IDEA it was that late. The boys and I had a later lunch for some reason and I think that threw me off for the rest of the day. I honestly didn't think it was later than 1:30 or 2. It wasn't even like I had looked at the clock and thought "Oh I need to get Jessalyn soon" and then forgot...the thought of having to be somewhere hadn't even crossed my mind that afternoon. Weird.

At the beginning of the year and last year I had my alarm on my phone set to go off when I needed to start packing the boys up to head out to get her. I have had that shut off for months now...but maybe I need to do that again!

Jessalyn won't let me live this one down either:) Its ok, I deserve it!

...although, I will admit that it was nice to be able to get a really good parking spot at the school since all the other good parents had already picked their kids up. I might have to make this my strategy on a regular basis!!

I don't know if you remember or not but the one day I asked Heath to pick Daniel up from school because I was in Tilton getting the oil changed... well he forgot. Mrs Young called it was 20 minutes late! lol! I think it's mostly funny cause you dont ever forget!!!

I've done it too. It is kind of funny now that I look back on it, but at the time I felt like such a "bad" mom. Don't be too hard on yourself, Jessalyn probably thought it was pretty cool to be at school in the classroom with Mrs. Oliver alone! I know that if that was Hailey, she would be asking me when she could do that again!
By the way, now that I can actually get here to see your blog, I love the new look!!
